This is a birthday shout out to my little brother Tanner, who turned 19 yesterday. These are a few things you may not know about him...
He likes to make up definitions to words like "cadillac" and "hydroplane". And he loves to say things like "This is the best night of my life" like, every night.
He thinks it's appropriate to rock climb, anywhere, anytime.
He will jump out of a moving car, on a winding road in Guatemala, to take a picture of a muddy waterfall, with tears of joy in his eyes, claiming it's the best day of his life. And he never brings his own camera anywhere. : )
He will pose with his shirt off and tell you he is sending it into some muscle mag for the cover.
My favorite thing about Tanner is that he says the craziest things. John and I quote him often. Some of the most recent...
"Landon, you are disgusting. I'm sorry, I'm just saying mean things because I'm pissed."
(to Landon, who had chocolate all over his face, when Tanner was mad because he found out he was supposed to dry clean his suit and he had already washed and dried it)
"Ok, dad, I'll just work and you can tell me exactly what to do with my money."
(to my dad, when he told Tanner he would be working for him and the money would help pay for his mission)
"Oh, so you regret assassinating my high school girlfriend, and ruining my life?"
(to my parents, when they said they had made some mistakes looking back on how they raised us)
All jokes aside, Tanner is the funnest brother to have. I'll cherish the memories we made in Guatemala together forever. I don't know anyone who makes me laugh more. Tanner reports to the MTC on Feb 20, and will serve in the Mexico City East Mission for 2 years. We are so proud of him and excited for him, but we will miss him.
We love you Tanner!

Gracias Michele, Gracias……KNIFE!!
Haha just kidding. But seriously, not a day goes by where I don’t remember all the great times we had in Guatemala. John “straight up excavating” his cookie at T.G.I Fridays, him banging on the window of the car cuze he was laughing so hard while driving, him turning onto one way streets into oncoming traffic in “zona you’re f’d” and nearly killing us, Tiff getting “completely benefited,” you impersonating a buffalo for John, all that good stuff. Tiff and I had the best time together those four weeks, but it was especially awesome that you and John were able to be there that first week. I’ll never forget it all. I hope we remember and quote the trip even when we’re way old and wrinkly. Thanks for loving those times as much as me! I hope we can continue to make more amazing memories on future trips we take. I love you and Tiff mucho gusto. I’d say I love John but that would be solo un poco gay….just kidding I love all my bro-in-laws.
I can’t wait to see your baby. I’m so thankful I get to hold him before I leave for Mexico, and that you all get to be there in the MTC with me. I’m counting down the days…
Alright Shel, you’re the best!
Love,
Tanner
Love the guatemala memories... : ) They always make me smile! Thank you for letting it be known on your post that, yes, Tanner does forget his camera everywhere he goes. : )
jk, Tanner, love ya!
I like the quotes from Tanner too...those are pretty hilarious.
The top five reasons Tanner will drive his companions nuts....
1. "Elder, pull over so I can climb that"
2. "Hey Elder, can I borrow your ????? I forgot mine"
3. "Hey....have you seen my wallet"?
4. "Are you going to eat that"?
5. "Crap, the ATM machine ate my card again.....can I borrow 20 bucks"?
The top five reasons his mission president will love him.....
1. He will will work anyone else under the table.
2. He will always be positive, even when all hell seems to be working against him.
3. He didn't leave a stupid girlfriend back home because I "assasinated" her.
4. He wont put up with whiny sissy missionaries who are homesick, girlfriend sick, or need their mommy.
5. He's converted, motivated and has real desire.
Happy Birthday Tanner!
Laughing so hard I'm crying : )
LOL!!! Good one dad...those are all so true!!!! (And I am dying laughing at the comment about how you assasinated his girlfriend!!)

Just want you to know Mom is not losing it - but the computer in the house is! (That explains the previous illogical posts) Just wanted to say - good job to Michele for starting the blog chain about Tanner. It has been fun hearing everyone's happy and funny memories. Family get togethers won't be the same the next 2 years - we may have to resort to pulling out Tanner's funny remarks from the childhood archives - like when your Dad told Landon when he was a baby that he had no neck - Tanner replied "Yeah - you've got a low head!" No one else sees the world quite like Tanner does. I can't wait to hear his impressions of life in Mexico City - I'm sure it will be hilarious!
I'll miss Tanner raving about my Cream Cheese Brownies - him testing my knowledge of music "Mom, what movie is this from?" coming home to notes on the wipe off board like - "Landon is kinda Gay" There is no body like you Tanner! We will miss you so much!!
