Missing my missionary...

Elder Hunt (right) and his companion
Tanners caption for this photo... "Excited to be on the MISH"

Tanner writes home and send pictures and then my sweet mother takes the time to type them up (and they are long) and scan the photos to put them on his mission blog so we can all enjoy his words of wisdom.

Today I'm missing my little brother, and his latest letter was a sweet one. Elder Holland came and spoke to them at the MTC. Tanner explains how Elder Holland held the little mission book of rules and shook it in the air and in a powerful way said "Do you trust us? The Brethren that lead the church? Do you trust our Prophet? Then follow these mission rules!"
It occured to me that I could ask myself that question everyday. Everytime I make a decision that maybe I shouldn't, do I trust the Prophet?
For example...
Food storage? Who really does that? Do I really need food storage? Do I trust the prophet?
Rated R movies? Not that big of a deal right? Do I trust the Prophet?
I had no idea that my little bro could be so inspiring! This is the same Tanner that I used to fight with and pick on and got so irritated with.
So while Tanner can't read my blog, this is more for me to remember that I should ask myself more often who I trust. I hope to do it frequently and believe it will help me make better decisions. So thank you Tanner for sharing. And thank you Elder Holland for being so straight forward and speaking so plainly. It's just what I need.

Good post Sheli, I miss Tanner too, and look forward every week to his letters, with each one I can see the personal growth.....missions are something else.
