Boston turned 2 on the 23rd of January, and Naomi turned 1 on the 9th of February. We simplified and had a joint party for them on Superbowl Sunday. It was so much fun, a lot of work but totally worth it. They got spoiled with presents and they both had a great time.
Among their many many presents was a train set for Boston, a walk/ride toy for Naomi and her first baby doll. I might be more excited about Naomi's new baby than she is. It's adorable.
After presents, it was cake time. What is funny is that we totally predicted how this would go before hand... Naomi would LOVE it and dig right in, and Boston would hate touching the frosting. We were right on. Naomi loved it and hung out there eating that cake like it was a cookie for WAY too long. Boston however ended up asking for someone to feed him with a "FORK", which by the way ends up sounding like a terrible terrible word.
So, in summary, it has been a busy couple weeks celebrating these 2 cuties birthdays, but it was really fun! If you don't want to read my personal thoughts that may or may not be a little cheesey for you, I suggest you stop here.
I can't believe I have been a mom for 2 years. To he honest, it has gotten harder as opposed to easier, but it has gotten more fun at the same time. I LOVE having a 2 and 1 year old. I can't imagine it being any different. I really feel like I have everything I could ask for. A son and a daughter. The amazing feeling of carrying and delivering a baby, and the incredible experience of adopting. I wouldn't trade any of it.
Kristina has been on my mind a lot lately. Not just because of Naomi's birthday, because I think of her daily anyway, but I'm filled with gratitude for the sacrifice she made for our family one year ago. She couldn't have been more selfless, stronger, or more brave. My feelings for her are impossible to put into words. I love her like she is my sister - or daughter - or something similar. I feel connected and indebted to her forever. Someday when she is ready, we will have a sweet reunion, and it will be wonderful.
Happy Birthday to my babies.
And in case you are wondering...
A friend said to me today "So he is 2 and she is 1, when will you have more?"
My answer... "Not for many, many years." (unless there is some major miracle of course)
Ok, so not that many, but we think we will consider adding to our family when Boss is 4 and Naomi is 3. We will think about our options at that point. In the meantime, I'm so excited to leave the baby stage. We boxed up our baby toys and infant car seat the other day, and it feels SO good. I get a full nights sleep - they both take a long afternoon nap - and they are playing together and can entertain themselves for short periods of time. It's awesome. I think the next few years will be SO much fun. Now Naomi just needs to start walking!

How fun for them to be close in age! 1 and older is fun and keeps getting more fun. Babies are cool, but "big kids" are my favorite! Enjoy your cute ones!
