Boss really wanted to be a robot (or "ru-bop" as he would say). I couldn't find anything other than some lame Transformers costumes... we kept searching until he saw a sword and REALLY had to have it. I explained to him that he could be a pirate and get the sword. He still insisted he was a ru-bop, but he was actually a pirate. Naomi got a cute bee costume, and she danced in it for a solid 30 minutes when I first put it on her. So cute.
We went to the party that night and the kids loved the treats, but Boss was pretty scared of the adults in costume.

Then things got pretty sketchy when a gigantic live snake got brought into the party. Seriously, like an anaconda snake that a family in the ward apparently keeps in their bathroom as a pet. Seriously.
The scarier part was that Naomi wasn't scared at all and really wanted to get close to it and touch it! Ewww.
Finally, Boss was finally scared of something he probably SHOULD be scared of. I was grossed out.
The next day was Boston's party at preschool. It was so cute and the kids got to wear their costumes again. We did some really cute Halloween crafts and the kids sang us (the mom's and siblings) some Halloween songs they have been learning. It was so adorable and I was so proud of how good Boss is with Miss Trish, his teacher. He is learning a lot and it is helping him be a little more social. Have I ever mentioned this extra year of preschool is the best thing we have ever done?
Finally, saturday night came and it was time for Trick or Treating! The kids were so excited. Unfortunately John was working and the trunk or treat in his parents cul de sac started right as it started to pour rain. The kids were drenched within seconds and they were both shivering and wanted me to carry them. I got no before pictures seeing as how it was pouring and I was on my own, but the kids really had a good time yelling "trick or treat" and saying "thank you" and then Naomi would add "your welcome!". A few times Boston got asked what he was (a pirate, remember) and he said a "a RU-BOP!". Someone said to Naomi "what a cute little bumble bee" and Naomi goes "BZZZZZZZ" with a super straight face. It was fun, and funny, but damn exhausting and I was relieved when the kids said they were all done and cold and wanted to go inside. We got out of our wet clothes and warmed up in Grandma's house eating homemade soups and scones and candy and passing out candy to all the trick or treaters. It was a fun holiday.

This is what I was waiting for - they look so cute!!!! Thank goodness for grandkids - they keep the halloween holiday going - it isn't happening here. Glad you all had fun.
They look so cute in their costumes! And that is hilarious that Boston told everyone all night that he was a "ru-bop"
And that anaconda is freaking insane. And freaky! I can't believe someone has that in their house as a pet!!! Madden was pretty scared of all the scary monster costumes at our ward party too. I think he would have Sh*# his pants if that anaconda had come to our ward party...oh wait, he already does sh*# in his pants...
Maybe one day we will live in utah and we could take our kids trick or treating together every year...how fun would that be!?!
Happy Halloween!!!!
How pissed were you when it rained ALL day Saturday?! Welcome to Utah, I suppose. On a lighter note, love the kiddies costumes! So stinkin cute! And that anaconda...are you kidding me?!
