Introducing Alleanza Bridal...

When I got married, I wanted a dress that didn't look like every other girl getting married in the temple. I thought that just because I needed a modest gown, shouldn't mean that I have to sacrifice my style and individuality. I knew that what I wanted, did not exist, and so I had to pursue it another way. What I ended up with was a custom made Monique Lhuillier gown, and it had to have alterations to make it temple ready. My gown was a dream come true, everything I wanted and more... but it was expensive, and my 6 month engagement was pushing it to have it done in time. It was also a little scary because I didn't really know what it would look like until it was done - one week before my wedding at my final (and only) fitting.
So because of my experience, which was the same for both my sisters, my mom and I decided that it was time to do something about it. We started Alleanza Bridal, a company that caters to the bride who wants a modest gown with style. The dresses are made modest from top to bottom, are designed by my mom and I, and are made in the garment district of New York City.
We had our official debut Septermber 6th at the Bridal Extravaganza at South Towne Expo Center. We had a booth there and were in a fashion show. It is a surreal feeling to work so hard on something, for so long, and then there were our gowns... on the runway, worn by a model, with our tags in the dress.

Starting a business with nothing but an idea, is a scary and risky process. We hit a lot of bumps in the road to get where we are. We came close to quitting a few times, but we are so proud that we didn't. We love our gowns, and can't wait to see what happens next. We hope to release a few more designs we have in the works really soon, and then possibly do some shows in January.
We know not everyone is looking for a wedding gown, but everyone probably knows someone who is. Word of mouth is the best marketing there is, so please spread the word. Our website is up and running and we are taking orders. I'd love to hear what everyone thinks of our designs.

Great post Sheli...
I'm proud of you and your mom.
Michele, I am so impressed with you and your mom. It inspires me to do things that I always thought I never could. How cool to see it all come together! I will definitely guide people to your site, the dresses are beautiful!
Gorgeous dresses! Yes, I read your blog. That's how it goes when you live in a neighborhood of a bunch of moms that stay at home. You find each other through blogs. Boston is darling also. He's so lovable! Congratulations on the dress business. I'm sure it will explode. That is a market that never dies.
Hey Michele!
Are you going to be at the bridal show at Thanksgiving Point this weekend? Call me, my mom and I want to come and see your dresses. We are already planning Tara's wedding and she is not even home yet.
Congratulations Michelle! I think this is a great idea!!
