wanting. wishing. hoping.

{John will laugh out loud when he sees this}

I have decided that I want a lap top.

And I want a good one.

So, I think it's time. I told John that if we are chosen by a birth mother who is delivering out of Utah (a really likely possiblity) then I'm buying one so I can take it with me when I'm living in a hotel for 2 weeks, and I'm calling it an adoption expense so it doesn't hurt so much.

I don't think he believed me.

But I was serious.

So, here is where all you lap top owners and users tell me what to do. I think I want a macbook. Do you have one? Do you love it? Is it worth the money? Is it a bad idea to save a $150 and buy one refurbished from Apple, and is it totally crazy to even consider buying a used one off KSL for a couple hundred bucks cheaper?
Better yet, know where I can get one for free?

Brandon just scored on a computer (hopefully this inspires you). He looked for a month on KSL and had no luck. On Craigs list (he thinks it's the best site to find a mac because not as many people post there and so not as many look)... but he found a one month old brand new/rarely used/ still under warranty mac book pro 17 inch. I think it's normally 3200 and he got it for 1500!! he is in love (and he used to think he was a pc kinda guy) he has really taught me that you rarely have to pay full price if you just be patient and keep looking.

hope you are doing great! boston is just the cutest! thanks for your christmas card- I was a slacker this year and they may just not happen. next year :)

I got a macbook in August and I LOOOVE it. Get a new one because so much is different and better about the new ones. Don't waste the extra money getting the macbook pro, just get a regular macbook. John can talk to Gary, he did most of the work looking into and getting mine.

I have no idea about getting one used or not - I'll see what Paul thinks. I would probably be a little nervous, but that's just me. BUT! You definitely gotta go with a mac. You'll love love love it!

I agree, a macbook is the way to go. We got a re-furbished imac and they have a warranty on it plus our Credit Card extended the warranty (i think most do that). It has never given us a problem so I would say save a couple hundred bucks, right?!? Good luck with the adoption, I hope you can get your "adoption expense" laptop soon!!!!!

I love my hp laptop. I think we bought it refurbished through costco.com and we haven't had any problems whatsoever with it. I am not to familiar with the mac, but it sounds like many people love it! I do know one thing...I could never ever ever live without my laptop, it is one of my bestest friends! Good Luck and I hope you get one soon!

Shane surprised me with a new 13" MacBook for Christmas...I am loving it!! I worry about buying off Craigslist, or ksl..personally it is one of the things I would splurge on and get new! Good Luck and we will see you Saturday at the Bridal Show!

Get a new one....you can afford it. The first five hundred bucks can come out of the ticket John didn't pay. Your mom needs one too...I'm working on it.

Michelle- the Macbook is the way to go! A "pro" is an extremely powerful machine that folks who use their computer to catalog photos, email, word process, budget etc.. do NOT need. Even the regular Macbook is a super powerful machine! We purchased ours refurbished from the Mac website and have had no problems- but the new ones come with the brand new OS and some other goodies that are worth the extra moneys. Mac Mac Mac!!! Woo hoo!
