B.A.S.I.C. Training

Being Always Steadfast In Christ was the theme of our Stake Youth Conference this year. Being the Laurels advisor meant I got to go with our Young Women. It was at Camp Williams, and it was a lot of fun. Here are a few highlights...
We repelled on the repel tower, and if you know me at all you know that this scared the ____ out of me. I was trying to be brave getting some of our young women that were scared to go up, they couldn't be convinced, but then I felt like I had to do it anyways. I didn't regret it until I got to the top and was getting hooked onto the repel. Then I wanted to pee my pants. Thankfully no one was taking my picture, I'm sure I looked awesome.
After facing our fears on repel, we headed over to the Leadership Training course to do some pretty crazy obstacle course/challenges. It went something like, go to different stations with your team, pick a team leader, read what your challenge is and use your limited tools and resources to complete it, all without talking out loud, and following some strict rules, and not touching anything red. Our group pretty much dominated, minus one that was virtually impossible.
Another cool thing was a concert we had for us by Jon Schmidt. I had only heard of him through my Laurels who told me about him a few months ago - and told me I had to go watch and listen to a video of his on You Tube. I never did, but he opened his concert with the song they had been telling me about. It's Taylor Swifts Love Story arranged with Coldplays Viva la Vida. It was awesome, and now I'm a fan! Go watch it, it is really awesome, and he is crazy talented. I even recognized a couple other songs of his from my old EFY cd's.
**I figured out how to add the video down below.

Our ward is really close knit and united as a group. I was very impressed with them all. Our ward is really awesome, and our youth are really really awesome. I want my kids to grow up and be just like them. Seriously.
Go Woods Cross 5th ward!

That was pretty impressive. Did he do the concert just for your Ward Youth Conference? He is pretty amazing!

Awesome pictures from Youth Conference. I miss being in the Laurels so much, because they really are the best. It's so nice they have awesome advisors like you and Meridith. They are super lucky!
