Thanksgiving Recap

Thanksgiving Day was a day of firsts...
It started out in the morning with me running my first race in Bountiful. It was just a 5 K, but if you know me and how much I loathe exercise and running particularly, this is a big deal. I ran it with one of my best friends, Ashley. She is in WAY better shape than me and I'm glad because the fact that she was making it look easy made me want to suck it up and pretend like it was easy for me too (it WASN'T).
36 minutes to run 3.1 miles is nothing to be super proud of, but I'm not ashamed either. That's roughly an 11 minute mile, but if I remember correctly, in middle school gym class we just had to run the mile in under 14 minutes to pass. So take that Ms. Ouimet (my awful overweight terrible P.E. teacher at El Dorado.)
The best part of running the 5 K was not the running part. It was the free t-shirt and food. Just kidding, it is the feeling you have after you run it. I was really proud of myself and it makes you feel like you accomplished something. Not something I feel on a daily basis..
John and the kids were there to cheer me on. I did not match the BOB on purpose.
After the run there is food for the runners to eat. Mom, this would be your kind of race. Paradise Bakery had boxes and boxes of cookies out. Boss enjoyed one thoroughly, as shown above.
After that, we came home for a bit, and then headed up to John's parents for Thanksgiving dinner, er, lunch since it was like 12. The kids had a good time though they were nap deprived.

We came home that evening and decorated the house and tree. Naomi had jello and marshmallow salad leftovers and had a blast stuffing her face.
So what other firsts was I talking about... well, we discovered that there is something magical about a Christmas tree that makes our babies decide it's time to crawl. Naomi has been on the move army/worm/slither style for a while, but the tree goes up and she is on all fours like a pro. Funny thing is though, that last year Boston did the SAME thing at the SAME time. In fact, right before it happened, I told John "remember how last year right when we put the tree up Boss decided he could crawl?" We laughed and minutes later, there goes Naomi, like a real crawling baby. Magic, I tell you.
I'll video it soon. It's crazy cute.

That's awesome you ran the 5K! I wish I had the energy to run one...but I get winded after walking up a flight of stairs! Go Michelle!

Congratulations on your 5K. You guys are all working real hard at making me look like a total slacker! The only thing that sounded appealing to me was the Paradise Bakery cookies - Boston takes after his Grandma. Glad you had a good Thanksgiving - we can't wait to see Naomi crawling around in Rochester in a few weeks!
